Take a short stroll from Aviva Stadium to the heart of Sandymount Village and discover the local bakeries, gift shops, boutiques and cafes. Don’t leave without tasting the local fish and chips and heading down to Sandymount Strand to enjoy the beautiful views of the Irish Sea. Sandymount Strand is the most famous beach in Irish fiction, James Joyce based two episodes of his epic novel Ulysses here. About halfway along the strand you will see the Sandymount Martello tower, part of a system of defences built to warn of an invasion by Napoleon.
