Energy Management at Aviva Stadium
Aviva Stadium works closely with it’s owners, venue users, staff and other stakeholders to ensure that a sustainable approach is taken in all aspects of its operations. Sustainable objectives are set and reviewed on an annual basis in line with the requirements of ISO20121:2012 – Event Sustainability Management Systems.
As part of our sustainable approach to managing and operating our venue, energy is the single greatest uncontrolled operational cost and the greatest operational contributor to our scope 1 & 2 carbon emissions, as a result, the decision was taken to implement ISO50001:2011 Energy Management System at the stadium.
ISO 50001: Aviva Stadium - 1st Stadium certified in the World
In late 2013, Aviva Stadium became the first stadium in the world to be certified to ISO50001. The successful implementation of this energy management system has led to considerable reductions in energy consumption and carbon emissions, notable financial savings / cost avoidance and heightened awareness and engagement amongst our numerous and varied stakeholders.
